Tones in the Voice of Shadows

The installation 'Tones in the Voice of Shadows' from Esther Mañas and Arash Moori, situated in the former loading area of Leipzig’s central station, is shrouded in an unusual and almost ghostlike visual and acoustic effects: An empty and forgotten office space , scarred by traces of demolition and neglect, forms the stage for a scenery which the artists have re-animated with waving light and amplified sound. This quondam place is transformed into a temporary situation of experience speculating what happened within and after the erstwhile hustle and bustle, what occurred or disappeared – possibly also in the sense of Edgar Allan Poe from whom the title of the installation is taken:„And then did we start from our seats in horror, for the tones in the voice of the shadow were not the tones of any one being but a multitude of beings and the familiar accents of many thousand departed friends..."
